The Writers Escape

Medium sized town garden. Design only.

This garden was designed for a couple (one of whom is a writer) with teenage children. It needed spaces for family life, a writing studio and an area for retreat. The garden has two halves and only the studio has a view over both. The geometric, dynamic first half has a series of pools and rills leading to a gap in the hedge - the entrance to a secret wonderland. Entirely bordered by mirrors this second space feels ethereal and endless. Perfect to escape to, masking the residential location of this space.
